Ditto the monitor resolution settings and, I'll add, an often neglected area to check when video problems hit...the setting of the monitor 'refresh rate' with some users insisting on setting the refresh rate to the absolute max [or opting for the 'optimal' refresh rate setting which may or may NOT be the best one!
